About The Ledo Road

During World War II China was an alley to the US, and it held back the advance of the Japanese Army.

However to do so, they needed war materials.  Ammunition , bombs, dynamite

ammunition, planes, and every other item

that a war required.  We tried to deliver these items by air, but the planes were just not able to cross over the Himalayan mountains.   One of the officers noticed that the Indiginous perople travelled between to towns that were also just what thee US Army needed to consider.  From Leod India to Kunming China were these paths.  He dicided to see just where they might go.  He walked it himself.  The new orders were to build a road from Ledo , Indial to Kunming, China and deliver the war materials that way.  Of course, this action meant going thru the mountains, over the rivers and fight the  rains and storms that struk this area.  They would build a road to drive the maerials to China.  The Japnaese had already captured the trains in Burma, so the Road was the only way.
